Maniapoto (Tribe)
TAMAKI was a very important man who lived in the Waikato. He was a
much respected leader but chose to retreat to Mount Pirongia and live as
a semi recluse. He was always willing to give advice and pass on his
knowledge and skills.
His Moko (Tattoo) is a full description of his Iwi (Tribe), parents, and
Grand parents. His skills and rank are all intricately detailed and
recorded in each mark.
